Overview

The Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N is a 13.5-inch 2-in-1 laptop for users who want one device for office work, web tasks, and light creative input with a pen. This generation focuses on practical upgrades: a stronger and lighter magnesium-aluminum chassis, a higher-resolution 3:2 touch display, and modern connectivity. It can switch between laptop, tent, stand, and tablet modes thanks to its 360-degree hinge.

In this configuration, you get an Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, 16 GB LPDDR4X memory, and a 1 TB SSD. For everyday workloads, that combination is responsive and easy to recommend. The main limitation is graphics power, since the laptop uses integrated Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7 without a discrete GPU.

Design and Build

The chassis uses a magnesium-aluminum alloy, which helps keep the weight to 1.2 kg while maintaining a rigid feel. The body has a restrained steel-gray style and a clean business look. Build quality is solid, with no obvious panel gaps or creaks in normal use.

The 360-degree hinge is firm and stable, and the laptop supports four usage modes. This flexibility is useful for presentations, video viewing, and pen input. As a pure tablet, it is still usable, but the weight is more comfortable for short sessions than long handheld use.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The 13.5-inch IPS panel uses a 3:2 aspect ratio and 2256x1504 resolution. This format gives more vertical space for documents and browsing than common 16:9 screens. Viewing angles are wide, and brightness is sufficient for most indoor and many outdoor conditions.

The glossy surface improves perceived contrast but can reflect light in bright environments. Touch support and bundled Wacom AES 1.0 pen input make it more useful for notes and sketching. The stereo speakers are balanced for daily media, while the 720p webcam is functional for calls but not very sharp.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard is compact and backlit, with clear key labels and comfortable feedback for long typing sessions. Some users may need a short adjustment period for the tighter arrow-key block, but overall typing quality is good for this size class.

The touchpad is large and supports multi-touch gestures well. A fingerprint reader is integrated in the touchpad area and provides quick login for everyday security.

Performance and Connectivity

With the Core i7-1065G7, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD, the Spin 5 handles office apps, multitasking, web workflows, and media playback smoothly. The integrated Iris Plus Graphics G7 is enough for casual or lightweight games at lower settings, but it is not intended for demanding 3D workloads or heavy creator pipelines.

Connectivity is a strong point for a compact convertible: two Thunderbolt 3 ports, two USB 3.1 ports, HDMI, and a microSD slot. Wireless support includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, which keeps the platform current for everyday peripherals and network use.

Battery Life

The 56 Wh battery delivers around a full workday in light to moderate tasks. In the source test scenario, video streaming and web usage are each around 8 hours at about 50% brightness. Heavier workloads reduce runtime significantly, with demanding usage dropping to roughly 3 to 3.5 hours.

Verdict

The Acer Spin 5 SP513-54N is a practical premium convertible for users who value mobility, a sharp 3:2 touch display, and flexible 2-in-1 usage. Its strongest points are portability, display format, modern ports, and balanced everyday performance. The main trade-offs are the high price and limited graphics headroom from integrated GPU-only design.
