ASUS VivoBook S14 S413EQ Review: Stylish Everyday Performance

January 25, 2022 By Notebook Center Editorial Team ASUS
Summary: The VivoBook S14 S413EQ mixes mainstream productivity hardware with a discrete GeForce MX350 and a lighter, more style-conscious chassis than a typical budget office notebook. It will not replace a workstation, but it has enough range for study, office work, and casual creative tasks.

Editor's note: This is an original English adaptation based on the Notebook-Center.ru review published on January 25, 2022, rewritten for Notebook Center's English overview archive.

Overview

ASUS designed the VivoBook S14 for buyers who want more personality than a plain office notebook but do not need the scale or price of a gaming system. The reviewed configuration combines a Core i5-1135G7, GeForce MX350 graphics, 8 GB of memory, and a 512 GB SSD in a 14-inch chassis that stays light at 1.4 kg. It is a mixed-use notebook in the best sense of the phrase.

Design and Usability

Style matters here more than it does on the average work laptop. The VivoBook line has long leaned into a cleaner, younger-looking presentation, and the S413EQ follows that pattern without becoming impractical. The machine remains compact, easy to carry, and visually more expressive than many similarly priced alternatives.

Display and Everyday Experience

The Full HD matte IPS display is appropriate for the target audience. It supports office work, streaming, study, and everyday browsing without unnecessary compromise, while the anti-glare finish makes it easier to use in mixed lighting. Speakers and webcam remain secondary features, but ASUS at least keeps the overall multimedia package serviceable.

Performance

Core i5-1135G7 performance is strong enough for daily productivity, and the GeForce MX350 gives the VivoBook a bit more graphics flexibility than integrated-only rivals. That matters for light photo work, less demanding creator software, and older or lighter games. The limitation is memory: 8 GB still works, but it is a more visible ceiling than the CPU or SSD in this configuration.

Ports and Battery

ASUS includes USB-C, HDMI, microSD, and enough USB-A ports to cover typical peripheral use, even if the presence of older USB 2.0 ports feels conservative. Battery capacity is moderate at 42 Wh, so the S14 remains best understood as a portable everyday laptop rather than an endurance specialist.

Verdict

The VivoBook S14 S413EQ succeeds by offering a little more than the average mainstream notebook. It looks better, carries easily, and has just enough discrete graphics to widen its usefulness. Buyers who want an affordable but polished all-rounder should find it appealing.
