Overview

The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425JA is a compact 14-inch premium ultrabook focused on mobility and everyday productivity. The tested configuration combines an Intel Core i7-1065G7 processor, 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory, and a 1 TB SSD. The chassis is thin and light, while the package includes useful adapters (USB-RJ-45 and USB Type-C to audio) plus a sleeve. Main trade-offs are a limited number of built-in ports and quiet speakers.

Design and Build

The laptop uses a metal body (except the display bezel) in Pine Grey. It feels rigid and premium, and the 1.17 kg weight helps for daily travel. The hinge lifts the rear slightly when opened, which improves typing comfort and airflow. Fingerprints can appear quickly on the metal finish, especially around the concentric pattern on the panels.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The 14-inch IPS panel has Full HD resolution and semi-matte coating. In the source measurements, brightness reaches 312 cd/m2, contrast is 1145:1, and color coverage is about 93% sRGB. Viewing angles are stable, and no PWM flicker was reported at tested brightness levels. Audio is handled by two bottom speakers with SonicMaster tuning; bass is present, but overall volume is modest. The HD webcam supports infrared Windows Hello sign-in.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The island-style keyboard is quiet, with clear key response and a firm deck. Backlighting is available with three brightness levels. The arrow key block is vertically compressed but still usable after short adaptation. The touchpad has a glass surface, good sensitivity, and accurate tracking. A long press in the top-right corner enables virtual numeric keys.

Performance, Ports, and Battery

With the Core i7-1065G7, Intel Iris Plus Graphics, 16 GB RAM, and 1 TB SSD, the UX425JA is positioned for office work, study, web workflows, and light creative tasks. Physical connectivity is limited: two USB Type-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB 3.2 Type-A, HDMI, and microSD. Charging uses one USB Type-C port, so available ports can become constrained during desk use. Wireless options include Wi-Fi 6-class support (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0. The 67 Wh battery was reported to recharge in about two hours, with around 3 hours in gaming load and over 13 hours in mixed use.

Verdict

ASUS ZenBook 14 UX425JA is a stylish and very portable premium ultrabook with a strong everyday configuration, good display quality, and practical mobility. It is a good fit for users who value compact size, build quality, and balanced performance. The main compromises are quiet speakers and a small built-in port set, which makes bundled adapters important in real use.
